Upselling with Event Addons in the Purchase Flow
Introduction
Event Addons are a feature in Billetto that allow you to sell additional products or services alongside your event tickets. They appear during the purchase flow after the customer has selected their ticket(s), making it easy to increase the value of each order.
Typical examples of Event Addons include:
- Merchandise
- Food and drinks
- Parking
- Cloakroom
- Printed programmes
- VIP upgrades
Billetto offers two types of addons:
- Event Addons – available only for a specific event.
- Account-wide Addons – available across multiple events. Account Addons.
This article explains how to create and manage Event Addons.
Create an Event Addon

- Go to My Events.
- Select the event you want to edit.
- Navigate to Manage → Edit → Ticket Types.
- Click Create New Addon.
- Enter the addon details:
- Name
- Description
- Optional image

- Save your changes.
Your addon will now be offered to ticket buyers during the purchase process after they have selected their tickets.
Manage Existing Addons
To view or manage your existing Event Addons:
- Open your event.
- Go to Manage → Tickets.
- Filter the list to display the desired addon type.
- From here you can view, edit, or manage your existing addons.
Billing
Please note the following billing rules for Event Addons:
- Billetto Advertising fees do not apply to Event Addons.
- Standard Billetto fees apply, but only the percentage-based fee is charged. The fixed fee is not applied to addons.
This allows you to offer additional products while keeping the associated costs lower than for standard ticket sales.
Best Practices
To get the most out of Event Addons, we recommend that you:
- Use clear names and descriptions so customers understand exactly what they are purchasing.
- Add an image whenever possible to increase visibility and conversion.
- Set realistic stock quantities to avoid overselling.
- Offer only relevant addons that enhance the event experience.
- Review your addons before publishing your event to ensure prices and availability are correct.
Automatically Apply an Add-on to a Ticket Type
The “Automatically apply add-on to” setting allows you to link an add-on to a specific ticket type, making the add-on a required part of purchasing that ticket.
You can find this setting at the bottom of the add-on’s Advanced settings.
How it works
When an add-on is linked to a specific ticket type:
- The add-on is automatically added when the associated ticket is added to the order.
- The add-on quantity follows the ticket quantity. For example, purchasing 2 tickets automatically adds 2 add-ons.
- Ticket buyers cannot remove the add-on or change its quantity.
- If the associated ticket is removed from the order, the add-on is also removed.
- The add-on cannot be selected together with other ticket types.
- The add-on remains visible throughout the purchase flow, so ticket buyers can clearly see what is included.
Optional setting
The “Automatically apply add-on to” setting is turned off by default. If no ticket type is selected, the add-on works as a regular optional add-on.
